12 Ways to Keep Your Home Safe During the Monsoon

12 Ways to Keep Your Home Safe During the Monsoon

The monsoon season is a time to enjoy warming food with hot tea or coffee in a home that has been prepared for the season. Spills, fungus, and other troubles can all be brought on by the monsoon, causing damage to your home, furniture, and other valuables. During the monsoon season, dwellings become more defenseless, and it is critical that you protect your home from the devastation brought by the rain.

Here are a few helpful hints and techniques for getting your home monsoon-ready.:-

  1. During the humid monsoon season, Moss and fungus thrive in cracks and gaps in walls and roofs. These are quite dangerous for the people who live in the houses, thus before the monsoon arrives, one should inspect, find, and repair any cracks.
  2. To prevent rain water from seeping into the house, the exterior of the home should be painted with a waterproofing coat of paint.
  3. The rain water harvesting pipes should be inspected to verify that they are not clogged and causing water stagnation on the roof.
  4. Before the season begins, examine the external wiring and make any necessary repairs to avoid electrical shock mishaps.
  5. Metal doors and windows should be repainted to minimize rusting, and sunshades over the windows should be checked and updated.
  6. Water collection around the home should be prevented for fresh water, mosquitoes to be breaded so puddles of water should be eliminated immediately.
  7. To avoid moisture transfer, furniture should be kept dry and away from walls.
  8. To preserve wooden doors, windows, and furniture from expanding over the season, wax and oil them.
  9. To keep moisture at bay, naphthalene balls should be put in wooden wardrobes.
  10. To avoid moisture and grime building in carpets and rugs, they should be rolled up for the season.
  11. Check for termite infestations, as a humid environment encourages termite growth. To avoid moisture buildup, make sure that wooden floors and furniture are thoroughly polished. Infestation is easy to find in cupboards and desks. To keep insects at bay, use camphor, neem leaves, or cloves between your garments.
  12. Keep all indoor plants outside the house during the rainy season since they add to the wetness inside.

Every homeowner looks forward to monsoons, but when they arrive, they bring with them a slew of new issues. To genuinely enjoy the season, it is necessary to stay away from the worries!
